Connections to a Global Business Network

Business is global.  With Kelley Direct you can build a network that is too.

You know there is more to getting an MBA or MS than just the business skills you learn.  The people you meet in your classes and business school events can provide lifelong friendships and business opportunities.  And in today’s global environment, it’s important to build a network that goes beyond your local area.

With students located in 31 countries on five continents and in all 50 states, Kelley Direct’s unique interactive design will allow you to build connections with colleagues from all over the globe.  You’ll have a host of opportunities:

Kelley Connect Weeks.  Each KD program kicks off with a week in Bloomington.  Before you take your first class you will have the opportunity to meet your classmates during the KD Induction Ceremony, a champagne reception, and the Kelley Direct Welcome Dinner.  During the week you’ll learn from the elite Kelley faculty, including Dean Dan Smith and Associate Dean Idie Kesner, as you work with your team to develop a business plan.  There are other networking events, including the always-popular KD Student Social at Nick’s, a legendary Bloomington pub.  As an MBA student, you would return for a second Kelley Connect Week in the second year of the program.

Kelley Direct Student Organizations.  Whether it is the KD Student Advisory Board, the student government organization of Kelley Direct, the Kelley Direct Women in Business, or the Kelley Military Business Action Group, Kelley Direct student groups provide KD students with similar backgrounds or interests the opportunity to network and hone their leadership skills.  Of course, if you want to start your own student group you can do that too!

Kelley Direct Classes.  Kelley Direct classes have been designed to be interactive so that you can learn not only from the Kelley faculty, but also from the wealth of business experience brought by your classmates.  You can fully expect much of your class work to be done in teams.  You’ll also have the opportunity to discuss real business cases through faculty-moderated discussion forums.  Your interaction with your classmates will be robust and frequent, no matter where you are located.

Professional and Social Networking Sites.  As a Kelley Direct student you will be able to join the Kelley Direct Group on LinkedIn, providing you access to nearly 1000 business professionals located all over the world.  Of course, Kelley Direct also its own student community forum on the ANGEL course management system, allowing you to discuss current business topics, seek advice on electives, and share photos from Kelley Connect Weeks and other social events.

Kelley Alumni Network.  With over 90,000 living alumni, the Kelley School of Business Alumni Association is one of the largest of any business school in the world.  In addition, Indiana University has over 530,000 living graduates worldwide, the third largest among U.S. colleges and universities.  As a Kelley Direct student you have access to all of the networking events that take place throughout the year and the vibrant InCircle online community.

Global Leaders Network.  The latest innovation from the Kelley School gives you instant access to hundreds of business and thought leaders sharing their expertise on a variety of business topics.  The unique search and annotation features of the GLN give you access to short video clips from experts on the topics in which you are most interested.
