Online Course Delivery
The latest tools and 12 years of online teaching experience from a highly-ranked faculty ensure that your learning experience will be outstanding
A common misconception of online courses is that you are only going to receive a taped lecture given to a class of residential students. While that may be true at some programs, the professors at the Kelley School customize the content they teach in residential classes to the online environment of Kelley Direct. They use several methods:
| Web-based Meetings Known as “Breeze Sessions” within Kelley Direct, most Kelley professors hold weekly live sessions. During Breeze sessions professors can share PowerPoints, Excel spreadsheets, or other documents on their screen. You can ask questions or contribute to discussions in real time. All Breeze sessions are recorded, so if you cannot attend a session at its scheduled time, you can watch it in its entirety. |
| Discussion Forums Case discussions are a staple of MBA programs and it is no different in Kelley Direct. Kelley professors lead case discussions through discussion forums. While the forums are asynchronous, you would be expected to contribute to the discussion on a regular basis. The nature of the forums allow both you and your peers more time to reflect before posting, and to link to current events on the topic, providing greater depth to the case discussion. |
| Recorded Lectures Like traditional classroom lectures, Kelley faculty can record a lecture specifically for a Kelley Direct class. A common method is through Camtasia, a technology that allows a professor to talk through a PowerPoint or Excel presentation and write notes on the slides and/or spreadsheets. You can watch the lecture on your schedule and you have the ability to pause or rewind to more deeply understand a topic. |
| Simulations Professors can create a virtual market in you would work in a team to make business decisions in the context of market and competitive uncertainty. Just like the real world, you will be able to see the impact of your decisions on both your company and your competitors. |
| Global Leaders Network Thanks to the Kelley Global Leaders Network (GLN), Kelley professors can pull short, relevant clips of today’s business leaders discussing key business topics. In addition to a professor’s lecture on a topic, you will be able to hear a variety of executives talk about that very topic and how they have handled it in their career. |
