Being from Indiana originally, I knew the quality of Purdue and the IU Kelley School of Business. After researching several MBA programs, including Clemson and Duke, I decided to pursue a dual-degree from Kelley Direct. In addition to the school's solid reputation, I liked the program's flexibility. With two young daughters, it would have been difficult to attend night school and work. I needed flexibility and the KD online program offered it. I was able to work my full-time job and squeeze school in when I needed to. It was low impact on the family, and it didn't affect my job performance.
I believe the ease of attending the program was due in large part to the ANGEL software that KD uses. With ANGEL, you log-on and all of your email and course information is in one place. It's awesome when you're dealing with teams. I had partners in Japan, Poland, England and all over the world, and we were able to meet via chats or sending emails. Sometimes we did conferences like on-line chat. It is a nice piece of software that really facilitates the learning.
I completed my courses in February. In my last quarter of school, I decided I wanted to move back to the area where I was born and raised in Indiana; I had been working in South Carolina. I was encouraged to contact Career Services for guidance. Dick McCracken helped me develop my résumé, enhance my interviewing skills and better utilize my network. He also assisted me with negotiation tactics when I received a job offer. The expertise and professionalism of the staff, and the available resources were top notch.
I was very impressed with the Kelley Direct program, especially Career Services and the faculty, who were excellent about responding and working with me. The Kelley Direct program gave me the confidence and competence to pursue management opportunities within the chemical engineering industry, and it has opened several new doors for me. I would absolutely recommend the KD program to other students and colleagues. In terms of price and reputation, you can't beat it.
