NOTE: If you plan to purchase a new computer, you should check with your local computer support professional to ensure that you are getting the most up-to-date options in your system. In addition, do some research to find the best computer and support to meet both our technical requirements and your personal needs. Indiana University also has computer deals available for students. You can view the student computer pricing at: http://uits.iu.edu/scripts/ose.cgi?amdt.ose.help
Notice to Mac users:
Kelley Direct does not offer support for Macs in our online programs. Please be advised that the Helpdesk will be unable to assist with any Mac-specific issues that may arise with any KD system such as ANGEL, SCOPe, or Adobe Connect. Additionally, while some Mac users have no difficulty accessing these or other systems, future software updates may reduce compatibility and/or functionality rendering them inaccessible. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Kelley Direct Helpdesk at kdhelp@indiana.edu.
2. Software
- Microsoft Office Enterprise Edition 2007
- Windows Media Player 11 (download)
- QuickTime 7.6 (download)
- Flash player 10 (download)
- Silverlight 3 (download)
- Adobe Reader 9 (download)
- Internet Explorer 7/8 or Firefox 3 (download)
- Various other programs such as MS Excel plug-ins (stat tools, @Risk) are required for certain courses. Check with your instructors before the start of each term to find out what software is required for the course.
Many other programs are readily available for free or at low cost thanks to Indiana University license agreements with companies such as Microsoft and Adobe. Offerings include anti-virus software, graphic design suites, web development programs, citation management software, statistical analysis programs, and more. There are two ways to take advantage of these great software deals:
- Download from IUware Online at http://iuware.iu.edu. The download is free but not all software is available online. The IUware site requires your IU student Network ID and passphrase.
- Purchase through the IUware Online Off Campus Ordering service at http://iuware.iu.edu/offcampus/. There is $10 shipping and handling fee and it takes 7 to 10 business days.
3. Internet Connection
A high-speed broadband Internet connection (such as DSL or cable internet service) is required. Dial-up modem connections are neither fast nor stable enough to allow you to operate effectively in any KD program.
If you have further questions about Kelley Direct's hardware, software, or Internet connection requirements, please contact the KD Helpdesk at kdhelp@indiana.edu.
